Adeles Fabulous Baby News

ADELE has given birth to a baby boy. The curvy singer and her partner Simon Konecki welcomed their first child on Friday night.

They are both said to be "ecstatic" at the arrival of their son, whose name is yet to be revealed. We here in the Curvety office look forward to finding out what it is.

Adele is set to miss the world premiere of James Bond film, Skyfall in London tonight as she doesn’t want to be away from her baby and who can blame her! Adele has recorded the theme song which was released last Friday and is tipped to be the first ever Bond track to take the number one spot in the official chart.

Adele looks amazing in this dress below and it’s similar to our Santra dress, perfect if you are going out for a Christmas party.

Adele Double Celebration

We here in the curvety office cannot believe how quickly time has gone when Adeles boyfriend revealed that the baby is “coming so soon.”
Simon Kinecki, who has been dating Adele, our favourite curvy singer, since late last year has said that Adele could give birth as early as the beginning of September.
“The baby is coming so soon, I’m very excited. Adele is doing well and we can’t wait.”
Simon is a charity worker and is reportedly looking for the perfect ring to propose to her with. We can’t wait for the double celebration and wish them all the best of luck.
Also Adele has said she has started work on her much awaited third album. However its release date will be delayed while she focuses on motherhood.

Karl Lagerfeld Slates Pippa Middleton

We see that Karl Lagerfeld has once again sparked controversy with remarks towards Pippa Middleton. He was quoted as saying “she should only show her back” with reference of course to the photos that were beamed across the world when she was a bridesmaid at her sisters wedding to Prince William.
This isn’t the first time he has sparked controversy when he referred to Adele, one of our favourite singers and a role model for curvy women everywhere,  as being a little too fat but with a beautiful face and a divine voice.  We believe comments like this just make it harder to remove  weight discrimination from the fashion industry and in showbiz in general. There is far too much pressure around these days for everyone to look a certain way regardless of talent.
We here in the Curvety office believe he is saying these things as a bit of a publicity stunt, after all you know what they say “ there is no such thing as bad publicity”. Maybe he should think a little more carefully in future about the effect his comments may have on young people.

Adele Expecting a Baby

We love a bit of good news here in the Curvety office so were over the moon when we heard that our favourite singer and curvy celeb announced that she is pregnant.

The plus size singing superstar, Adele, 24, is expecting her first child with boyfriend Simon Konecki, 36, who she has been dating since last Summer. They finally went public with their relationship in January and it seems all is going well for the loved up couple!
She revealed the news on her website, writing:

'I'm delighted to announce that Simon and I are expecting our first child together.
I wanted you to hear the news direct from me, obviously we’re over the moon and very excited but please respect our privacy at this precious time. Yours always, Adele xx".

Adele recently told People magazine that she 'really wants to be a mum', and that it is her goal to have three sons by the time she is 30.

She had already made it very clear that she intended to take a break from making music, telling US Vogue magazine that she was 'f***ing off' for four or five years' to concentrate on her relationship.

Congratulations to the pair of you from the Curvety office x

Adele's Amazing VMA Performance

As a massive fan, I was pleased (but not surprised) to see Adele win a multitude of awards at the VMA's. But for me the highlight of the night was her live performance,  which certainly left no room for doubt that she is worthy of her huge success.

Although her  hit, "Rolling in the Deep," is the best-selling record of the year so far, Adele decided on a simple rendition of "Someone Like You," my personal favourite song.

With just a pianist playing in the darkness behind her, there was no need for showy stage props and light shows, her voice truly does speak for itself.

Well done Adele!

Adele looked amazing with her hair pulled back in her signature ponytail and a simple yet sensational little black dress, as seen in the pic. You can get the look with the retro glam lace dress, available in the UK at Curvety.

Top 3 Curvy Celebs of 2008

The year is drawing to a close and what a year it's been!

2008 has seen the size acceptance movement fall into full swing and real women everywhere are learning to accept and be proud of their curves. They are demanding a voice in both the public domain and in the retail sector & the choice of plus size clothes has never been so great.

The rise of size acceptance has seen an increase of curvy women in the world of celebrity, those rare role models who refuse to bow to the pressure of life in the limelight as a curvy women.

As 2008 wraps up I wanted to celebrate my top 3 curvy role models of the year...

Chloe Marshall has to be my number 1 curvy celebrity in 2008. Her stirling work in raising awareness of the sexiness of curves earlier in the year when coming second in the Miss England final was monumental. Chloe is a beautiful young woman and the UK really got behind her.

In second place has to be Beth Ditto, who has won the admiration of women across the world for her attitude and daring dress sense. Beth knows how to steal the show, and proves to the world that you dont need to be a size 0 to do it. BTW - love the new orange hair Beth!

In third place it has to be Adele, just because I love her. She is my favourite by far of the new singing talents of 2008. when I first heard her voice it gave me goose bumps, so I was doubly pleased when I found out she was proud to be a curvy woman.

There have been many sad stories of celebritites who have suffered at the hands of the size stigma in the UK - such as Fern Britton and Natalie Cassidy.

Here's to a 2009 which celebrates the beauty of the female form in all its wonderful variations, and where celebrities and normal women alike can feel confident of who they are without being judged.

Celebrity Plus Size Designers

The last couple of years has seen an increase in the number of celebrity designers - either going solo or designing for well known high street stores. Kate Moss, Lily Allen, Jodie Kidd to name a few - but where are the plus size celebrity designers?

Beth Ditto of Gossip has expressed her interest in working with Topshop. This hasn't materialised which is a shame as I think Beth would make a great contribution to the plus size fashion industry.

Another curvy celeb with great style is Adele, who I would love to see share her style with us.

Which celebrities would you like to see design for the plus size fashion industry?

Adele - Proud of her Curves

The first time I heard Adele on the radio I was an instant fan of her sexy, timeless sound. She has seen huge success over the last 6 months or so, but as with any curvy star, she has had to put up with a certain amount of media sniping about her weight.

I am heartened to hear that Adele has the strngth of character to ignore such comments - she really has the personality and talent to be a role model to women in the UK who want to succeed and fight the stereotypes that weight has anything to do with talent.

Adele fights back against the negative criticism by making her views public - 'People are starting to go on about my weight but I’m not going to change my size because they don’t like the way I look. They can f**k off. My favourite way to relax is to get a pizza or curry and get lots of beer round my house. I also love Malaysian food. My weakness is alcohol.'

In another interview she said - 'I’ve always been a size 24-26, and been fine with it,' Adele told The Times. 'I would only lose weight if it affected my health or sex life, which it doesn’t.'

Adele has a great fashion sense and always looks amazing. She is an excellent example to plus size women everywhere. Just because you buy plus size clothing, it doesn't mean you can't have an original sense of style and stand out from the crowd.

Top Style at Brits

The celebritites attending the 2008 Brit Awards did not disappoint, and all arrived well turned out amidst a whirl of sparkle, shimmer & glitz. For me, the red carpet winners were Fearne Cotton, who presented the ITV live show and showed up in a small but perfectly formed satin shirt dress, Rihanna who looked simply stunning in a silver strapless dress, and of course - Beth Ditto in a daring coral strapless tutu style dress.

The show was opened with an extravagant performance from Mika, who went on to win best breakthrough act. He was joined on stage by gorgeous plus size inspiration Beth Ditto, who had changed & looked stunning in a sexy red satin & lace number. As always, size 20/22 Beth shows the world that you can be just as daring with your wardrobe when you're more voluptuous.

It was most heartening to see the array of shapes and sizes on show - raising hope of a more accepting view on size acceptance for the future. This included Adele, whose debut album 19 recently went to number one. She picked up the Critics' Choice Award at the ceremony and sang as part of Mark Ronson's act.

So, if you've been buoyed by the likes of Beth and need a fantastic new plus size outfit to make you stand out from the crowd, try Curvety.com, where fab fashion in sizes up to a 36 is much more reasonably priced than the one off designer pieces sported by Beth!
