Plus Size Zumba

Let’s face it we’re all guilty of making plans to get fit and very few of us actually get round to doing it, i’m one of the guilty party’s. Getting started can be very difficult, I find going to the gym quite daunting and running is hard work. Swimming is a good way to keep fit, if you’re comfortable getting into a swimming costume in your local baths and you can swim of course. No matter which course of exercise we choose they all require motivation to go and if you are feeling tired or down it’s very easy to put it off. So thank goodness for Zumba !!
The idea of Zumba is that it is a fun way to get fit and even lose weight if that’s what you choose you would like to do. It is a very good cardio and fitness workout that targets the core and tones and sculpts the body. Zumba has been slowly growing since the 90’s and now is extremely popular worldwide. It now includes several different types of Zumba including original Zumba, Zumba Gold and Aqua Zumba. They have now introduced Zumba Curves, it is still based around all the other types, dance moves to Latin music but is a 30 min routine designed to strengthen muscles and blast fat. It also includes a circuit with resistance machines and a nutritional programme.
More importantly Zumba is all about social interaction and fun whilst getting fit and healthy at the same time. If you have been put off before because of gym stereotypes then the zumba curves class may be the perfect place to make you feel comfortable while shaking your booty. Curvety have just launched a new line of plus size fitness clothing so why not look the part too. We particularly like this sports top, Kala with clever sleeves that although it is a vest top for when you get hot dancing to all that Latin music they have a floaty top sleeve to cover up the top of the arm which none of us ladies like.
Have you tried Zumba ? Let us know what you think of it.

Plus Size & Fighting Fit

As an active & healthy person who exercises daily despite being overweight, I am a firm believer that how fit you are is more important than your weight. Until now popular belief would say otherwise, but now research is coming to light that proves weight & health are not necessarily linked.

A US study that followed 2,603 people over 60 years old for an average of 12 years found that those who were very unfit were most likely to die - regardless of whether they were overweight. The participants all received an initial medical check, underwent fitness tests and had their fat levels measured. They found that while the degree of fatness was not associated with an increased risk of mortality, being unfit was. Those in the fittest 20% of the sample suffered an annual death rate of 8.1 per thousand people, while those in the least fit 20% experienced an annual death rate of 32.6 per thousand. The results are reported in the latest issue of the Journal of the American Medical Association.

'It is possible to be fat and fit - and if you are, your risk of dying is substantially reduced. It is cut in half,' said Blair.

So, stop worrying about your weight and make sure you include at least 30 minutes of moderate intensity exercise each day to ensure a longer, healthier life. If you don't already include this in your routene you will definitely notice the difference in your fitness levels in just a few weeks and you'll be brimming with energy.
